The EU committee presented a list of safe countries of origin on Wednesday before the end of the shelter. In addition, two regulations of the asylum and migration pact must be implemented earlier to be able to process applications faster.
For example, Member States must be able to apply an accelerated border procedure to migrants, whereby an average of 20 percent or less applicant for international protection is granted in the EU.
A list of safe countries of origin has also been made. Kosovo, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Colombia, Morocco and Tunisia are on this. EU totation candidates would in fact meet the criteria as safe countries of origin, the EU committee announced on Wednesday. Ukraine is currently an exception.
Extra national lists possible
Some Member States already have national lists of safe countries of origin. The new EU list must supplement them. In Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Kosovo, Mongolia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Ghana, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Georgia, Georgia, Armenia, Benin, Senegal, Namibia, South Korea and Uruguay. Bangladesh, India, Colombia and Egypt are added accordingly.
These countries of origin are considered safe in the EU and in Austria:
Anyone who comes from a safe country of origin must be able to expect a maximum duration of three months to process the asylum application. However, the federal states are still obliged to check each application separately, regardless of where the person comes from, the EU committee said. Not all nationals of a country are certain.
These are the criteria
The number of arrivals from this country and the percentage of accepted asylum applications are considered criteria for classification as a safe country of origin. The list must be continuously evaluated and expanded. The EU parliament and the Council of Lidlanden must now agree to the proposal.
“It is important for me to support the EU member states in the best possible way to perform asylum procedures efficiently and faster,” said the responsible EU migration commissioner Magnus Brunner (ÖVP). During the EU, Venezuelans replaced people from Syria as the largest group of origin in the asylum applications in January. Afghanistan was the first in Austria.
