Date:

The Council of Ministers will decide an action plan against violence against women on Wednesday. The establishment of the Ministry of Women has been created together with the inner, educational and judicial department. The goal is to close existing gaps in violence.

The action plan is based on the recommendations of the Council of Europe, the Court of Auditors and the new EU directive to combat gender-specific violence. With the decision of the ministerial council, the start signal for the development of the article is given. This must be done in close collaboration with relevant NGOs, specialist agencies and science.

“Girls and women must be able to live”
“Girls and women must be able to live in Austria, there are no tolerance for violence against women,” says the ministerial council. The action plan is more than a lip service. He is the bar of violence protection for this government, writes Minister of Women Eva Maria Holzleitner (Spö).

Femicides are the most brutal case of violence against women and often the endpoint of a spiral of violence that could apparently start inaccessively, emphasized Minister of Justice Anna Sporrer (Spö). That is why it is important to use prevention as early as possible.
