As reported, nurses are included in the heavy work regulation. The trade unions are welcomed the presented measure. At the same time, desires with related professional groups – for example, paramedics – are awakened. Now the Ministry of Social Affairs wants to investigate the regulations again.
Minister of Social Affairs Korinna Schumann (Spö), together with coalition partner ÖVP, recently promised a new regulation from January 1, 2026. Nursing staff would have better access to heavy work – if they have had a difficult work in the last 20 years, they can retire in the 60 years. Budgetary is of 60 million euros for this.
Unie: “Don’t stay halfway”
At the Union of private employees you can see this positively, but requires a fair solution for all supervisors, as GPA chairman Barbara Teiber explained: “It would also be important for us to record colleagues who do difficult work, physical, psychological work, also in the disabled help, also in mobile services or in the well -being of children.” The government should not stop halfway.
According to Ö1, the Ministry of Social Affairs said that many professional groups did physically and mentally stressful work. The whole heavy work regulations will still have to be viewed.
