Noord -Korea continues to upgrade – and trusts heavily armed warships. Voorbieder Kim Jong inspected the new torpedo hunter “Choe Hyon” together with his daughter. The 5000 tons ship is the first of its kind in land and according to the state media with state-of-the-art technology.
In the port of Nampo on the west coast of Noord -Korea, the regime publicly presented the new warship. The destroyer is named after Choe Hyon, a nationally worshiped hunter against the Japanese occupation.
During the official performance, the ship carried out a weapon demonstration: about sound missiles, marching rockets and anti -aircraft missiles were fired. Automatic weapons and electronic interference systems have also been tested.
Consideration for war support?
According to the Noord -Korean state media, the ship was equipped with around 80 rockets. It should be used for both attack and defense operations. The equipment also includes an anti -aircraft radar system. Experts suspect that central components – including the drive system – can come from Russia. South Korean analysts see this possible consideration for North Korean support in the Ukraine war.
The inspection by Kim Jong Un and his daughter took place a few days after the ship was publicly unveiled. Observers also see the appearance as a symbolic step for the further establishment of the daughter in the power apparatus. According to the Noord -Korean news agency KCNA, the “Choe Hyon” must be officially ready for use from 2025.
Marine must be upgraded nuclear
The military armament of Noord -Korea has more and more influence on the navy. According to KCNA, the goal is to equip nuclear to secure the maritime sovereignty of the country in the future. As the next milestone, Kim Jong strives and apparently strives to complete a nuclear submarine.
The tensions on the Korean peninsula continue to increase. Since 1953 there has been a state of war between North and South Korea. Relationships are currently at a low point – not least because of the Noord -Korea Nuclear Weapons Program and Continuous Military upgrades.
