From 462 hp to electric – The coalition leaves these limousines

Date:

State Secretary Josef Schellhorn’s exclusive election of service car causes emotional debates. The Neos politician drives the same car model as Chancellor Christian Stocker. The “Kroon” looked at which limousines the government is still leaving. Small spoiler: there are only Audi and BMW.

Sepp, what are you going? With this question, emotions can currently rise. Neos State Secretary Josef Schellhorn, who with his iconic cooking videos “Sepp, what are you doing?” Was known, treated himself to a new company car. But not just a model, because the mobile pedest plays all the pieces: an Audi A8, extra long (5.32 meters), 462 hp and all wheel drive – and also a classic burner. Lease percentage: 870 euros per month.

Every detail of this purchase is a fat. Many “crown” readers rage that Schellhorn has to pay the luxury details from his own pocket. But how do the other government members of the first three coalition hold? The “Kroon” asked which limousines the government members go.

Only experienced by the Limousine service
Leonore Gewessler (Greens) was the first and so far the only minister who did it without a service limousine. Her successor Peter Hanke not only trusts the public transport network, he covers thousands of kilometers in a new Audi A8 hybrid, ie a mix of combustion engine with an electric content.

Foreign Minister and Neos Boss Beate Meinl Reisinger are about to choose a new service. In the meantime, she took over the BMW 750E xDrive Limousine Hybrid from her predecessor Alexander Schallenberg. Minister of Education Christoph Return (Neos) completes his way between the appointments with a BMW 750E xDrive, a hybrid car. Chancellor Christian Stocker drives an Audi A8 in the extra long version such as Schellhorn. He took over the mobile pedestal from his predecessor Karl Nehammer.

Electric cars massively more expensive than PS samples
But why do government members change the limousines relatively often? And why do you rely on Audi A8 and 8 series BMW and not on electric cars? This has to do with the lease contract. If the ministers opted for an Audi A6, only 35,000 kilometers per year can be driven. Otherwise there are extra costs. With Audi A8, 60,000 kilometers per year are possible. That is why the limousines are popular.

The selection of the company car car also shows that electric cars are currently more expensive than combustion models. The new lease percentage for Schellhorn’s PS monster is 870 euros. The Audi e-tron 55 Quattro (Electrical Drive) by Minister of Social Affairs Corinna Schumann costs 2222.61 euros per month.

By the way: all government members pay a private share of approximately 691 euros per month for the use of the limousine. And from 2027 all new government rates must be fully electric.
