Four mothers of children with disabilities founded the “lobby for families with a disability” on the day of inclusion – and the social spokesperson for the Groenen and Spö mobilized against the savings of Governor Markus Wallner (ÖVP).
Already on Monday, the mothers of the newly established Scharf against Governor Markus Wallner and Health and Social Council member Martina Rüscher and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the austerity measures. 6 to 8 percent of the estimated needs should save carriers from the “equal opportunities” of the social fund, is the state of Vorarlberg.
Save to the wrong end
“For years we have the implementation of the UN Convention on the rights of a disability for a standstill or in the step backwards, which culminate in current austerity measures,” said Nicole Klocker-Manser. She is one of the four mothers and also chairman of “Integration Vorarlberg”. Adriane Feurstein, mother of a 38-year-old daughter with a high need for support and member of the family members in the “Lebenshilfe Vorarlberg”, referred to the burden that family members could not always manage. “In fact, the austerity measures take the wrong one because we have a system that is in the stop, only somewhat working with unpaid care work and responds to shortcomings with individual cases!” Instead of saving, one must promote the physical and mental health of family members.
Given the non -durable circumstances, the four women of the “lobby for families with disabilities” have set up an online petition. “Only if we succeed in gathering so many affected people, will politics and institutions take us as a discussion partner at eye level,” emphasized Martina Natter, chairman of the “AG Down Syndrome” and spokeswoman for the “parents and inclusion” network.
“Disabled people are excluded”
The women received the women of Spö Inclusion spokeswoman Manuela Auer. With the mass cutbacks, the Social Democrat criticizes that people with a disability are disadvantaged and excluded: “As assistant lessons, mobility bids are limited and social services are thinned, which means less independence, participation and quality of life.”
“Social cuts should not be poverty ball”
De Greens also participated in the protest against the savings plans on Tuesday. Social spokeswoman Christine Bösch fatter was less on the rights and the necessary support of people with disabilities than the social security of families. “For them, black and blue social reduction should not become poverty trap. We therefore have to call greens the cuts to stop cutbacks with the lawn mower in the social sector,” Bösch stumbled.
She called for a security package that, among other things, provides for a reduction in bureaucracy in the social area. Affected persons who would have strayed in the support of the financing and the formula should not fall for their support services. Moreover, the Greens want an index adjustment of the residence percentages and the increase in children’s judgment. Also on the wish list: affordable childcare, all -day school types and financing of disadvantaged children. This can be financed if ÖVP and FPö do not spoil hundreds of million euros for streets.
“Only save structures, then with services”
In the press foyer on Tuesday, the governor again referred to the need for budget consolidation and the cost explosion at the social fund. At the moment, with an expenditure volume of more than 550 million euros and an increase of 30 percent in recent years. “This development cannot be easily updated.”
With regard to the savings, he sees the responsible persons of the social institutions in the obligation: “The sponsors are asked to show how significant growth should be broken. Before it concerns the affected performance treatments, it must mainly be checked what can be done in the structures themselves.”
