Egiagaray (Bilbao, 1945), Economist training, started his political career in 1979 at the JJ.GG. van Bizkaia, following as a parliamentarian in Gastseiz. He was a representative of the government of Spain in the Basque Country and Minister of Industry and Energy and Public Administrations with Felipe González.
The former socialist Minister of Industry and Energy and Public Administrations and former government of the Government in the Basque Country and Murcia, the Bilbao Juan Manuel Eguiagaray, died at the age of 79.
The general secretary of the PSE-EE, Eneko Andueza, confirmed his death upon his arrival at the plenary meeting of the Basque Parliament, where he transferred his condolences to the Eguiagaray family and the socialist family as a whole.
“We have lost a great socialist value, a great person who has devoted much of his life to defending the principles and values of the party and to contribute his work in the institutions to do a better country,” he complained.
Andueza remembered that Egiagaray also occupied a chair in the Basque Chamber and has indicated that he had “the honor” to collect the medal in his name that the Basque parliament gave to the MPs who were in the component session, on the 45th anniversary of the same.
In turn, the government is delegated in the Basque Country, Marisol Garmendia, “deeply moved” by the death of Eguiagaray, who, according to Garmendia, was a “great official”.
In a message that has been placed on its social networks, the government has defined in the Basque Country Eguiagaray as a “great Basque socialist politician” who worked for Basque and Spanish citizens in “very difficult times”.
“A good example of dedication,” said Marisol Garmendia.
