It was on March 3, 1976 when the armed police disrupted a meeting of workers in the church of San Francisco in the Zaramaga district with the result of five killed and more than a hundred injured.
This Monday a meeting of the Board of Directors was held by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, María Jesús San José. In a statement, Alonso indicated that the procedures will start with the entrusted by the Basque government “to see if you can do the works that the church needs this summer.”
The Basque government emphasized that “this decision makes progress possible when maintaining the building and its adaptation as a place of memory and recognition.”
For its part, the Minister of Justice has “underline the symbolic and practical importance of this first meeting of the Board of Directors with the foundation that has already been formed by law.”
