Countries are busy – Youth needs protection against online radicalization

Date:

More and more young people are radicalized on the net. This was also the case with the murderer of Villach in the previous year. The Carintic Governor Peter Kaiser is therefore not only part of the revision of the treaty on human rights, so that threaters and criminals can be deported, but also for measures against online radicalization.

A young guy was killed in the attack in Villach. Governor Kaiser: “To protect our population, Vonlineonedddor, everything from our children and young people, there are clear measures against online radicalization.”

During the government conference in Leogang in Salzburg, in which the top of the federal government with federal Chancellor Christian Stocker, Vice-Chancellor Andreas Babler and Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Kaiser successfully campaigned for a decisive action against online radicalization with a request introduced by Carinthia.

Social cohesion is threatened
“The increasing radicalization of digital channels threatens social cohesion, especially among young people,” said Kaiser, who pointed out that the murderer of Villach-on February 15, a radical Islamic Syrian stabbed in people and a 14-year-old Carinthner kills in a few weeks. “Platforms that make extremism possible or even promote or even promote, no longer have to go out of responsibility. They must be forced to proactively remove democracy -property, rising content and to prevent algorithmic further distribution,” said Kaiser.

The Carinthic application requires, among other things, rapid progress of the measures provided in the government program against radicalization, increased political pressure at EU level to sharpen the guidelines for hate speech and to maintain extinguishing obligations for platforms and a national evaluation of existing regulations.

Must take into account social developments
Kaiser emphasized: “It is about the protection of our democracy, the protection of children and adolescents against manipulative agitation and inhumane content.” In this respect, his demand for a discussion about possible adjustments and further developments in the European Convention on Human Rights and their interpretation must also be understood: “It is also about taking into account current social developments, for example protecting digital human rights on the internet.”
