Aggressive SPÖ leader – Rendi-Wagner: “Yes, I want to be chancellor!”

Date:

In the first krone.tv summer conversation with Katia Wagner, SPÖ leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner attacked the government. According to her, there must “finally” be a federal government led by SPÖ that “clean up the mess left behind by the last governments”. Will that work in a coalition with Groen and NEOS? Rendi-Wagner keeps a low profile…

Actually, this year’s krone.tv summer talks should take place in the offices of party leaders. However, the party leader of the Reds, Pamela Rendi-Wagner, asks us to stand in front of a conspicuous red wall in the short term. “Is your office too cluttered?” journalist Katia Wagner wants to know. No, she reassures – there’s only so much work there, that’s why she doesn’t want to show us the office after all.

Rendi-Wagner explains why SPÖ is ahead of ÖVP
Her work is also why the SPÖ is currently more than 30 percent in the polls — and way ahead of the ÖVP. “People can tell if someone takes politics seriously,” she says. The Red Party leader is also aggressive in other ways and does not shy away from criticism of the federal government. “It’s not working anymore! Action is needed now and not just announcements!”, says Rendi-Wagner.

Mikl-Leitner’s endorsement shows that SPÖ’s path is correct
She therefore immediately argues for a price ceiling on energy. The fact that the Turkish state governors are now open to a conversation shows her “that the SPÖ is in the right place”. Rendi-Wagner doesn’t like Katia Wagner’s suggestion that Red Vienna, as sole owner of Wien Energie, could be an example. It asks much more from the government for a unified federal law.

What the red boss thinks is “not fair”…
Do you feel the price rise yourself? “The price hikes will leave no one untouched,” she would also feel when she went to the supermarket to buy groceries for her family of four. Yet she is more concerned about the others who have to make do with little money. In this regard, Rendi-Wagner does not understand why, as a top politician, she should receive more than 5,000 euros from the federal government’s aid package, while a pensioner would receive less than a third of that. “That’s not ordinary, not fair and not reasonable,” she criticizes.

“Yes, we are for wealth and inheritance tax”
In order to be able to finance a price cap or a VAT reduction, it can also involve a wealth and inheritance tax. “Those who have millions need to make a bigger contribution. And many millionaires want that too,” says Rendi-Wagner. She explains that the inheritance tax under an SPÖ politician, Werner Faymann, was abolished with a “pure formality” when the coalition partner, the ÖVP, failed.

Guardian Angel for Herbert Kickl
As part of the krone.tv summer talks, Katia Wagner also wants to decorate the offices of the party leaders with decorative items. Pamela Rendi-Wagner’s gift to FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl? “The guardian angel, because he likes hiking and climbing mountains,” she explains forgivingly, before adding a tip: “I would like to know from Herbert Kickl if he has already been vaccinated.” Katia Wagner will ask the blue party leader.

krone.tv’s next summer conversation with FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl can be seen on krone.tv on July 27, 2022 at 8:15 PM!
