The trail of destruction is huge – Tyrol’s governor Anton Mattle, together with security councilor Astrid Mair (both ÖVP), got an idea of the heavy weather damage in Gschnitz on Tuesday afternoon. He also assured financial support.
“If you have the photos of Monday evening in your head and you are now on site, you can already see that the situation is quite dramatic,” the Mattle emphasized in the interview with “Krone” (see video above). The emergency services had done great things and that also meant that no people did damage.
Funds of the Disaster Fund
Given the storm damage in Gschnitz and in other municipalities, the state government had already started an assessment of the situation in the morning and promised funds of the Rampenfonds for financial consideration with the damage.
There is a package to support the affected communities. “Once the situation has been clarified and the extent of the damage is quantified, we will start removing damage with the municipalities and we will release financial support,” Mattle said.
