The appointment between the Minister of Self-Government and the Minister of Territorial Policy will take place on July 29 in Leioa, after the inconvenience caused by the regional executive by the assumption by Pedro Sánchez “of a certain paralysis” in certain transfers.
The Minister of Territorial Policy, Elizabeth Rodriguezand the Basque Minister of Self-government, Olatz Garamendicwill meet next friday July 29 in Leioa (Bizkaia) to try clarification of the delay in the transfer of Basque powerssome of them questioned by the president of the government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, according to strong reports from the Basque government.
The appointment comes after the inconvenience caused by Sánchez’s words in the Debate on the State of the Nation at the regional executive. The president, in response to the PNV, assumed “certain paralysis” in the process of pending transfers and even considered it “difficult to take over” four powers included in the schedule his government had drawn up and given to the Basque in 2020 government transferred.
The same sources of the Basque government emphasize that the Spanish government can’t decide “unilaterally” what is transferred and what is not, since the Sánchez administration has not only included them in the statute of Gernika, but has also included them in the transfer calendar itself.
The last meeting between Rodríguez and Garamendi took place in March within the Mixed Transfer Commission in which the transfer of the Minimum Vital Income was signed, the last match to have arrived in Euskadi.
A year earlier, in May 2021, four other cases were closed, including the management of the prisons for which the prisons of Basauri (in Bizkaia), Nanclares (Álava) and Martutene (Gipuzkoa), became dependent on the Basque government in October.
