Sara Gallego reached the final of the 400 hurdles winning her series

Date:

Barcelona Sara Gallego, Spanish record holder of the 400 meters hurdles, agreed to the final of the European Athletics Championships in Munich with the victory in his series and with the seventh best score (55.16) among all participants.

Gallego, 21, began his participation in Munich in the semifinals because he was exempt from running in the previous round due to his position in the continental ranking.

The Barcelona athlete, trained by Alex Codina, competed in the first series of semifinals and, from less to more, with a reaction time of 0.165, he was in third position for almost the entire route until the last forty meters he showed a sprint that allowed him to reach the finish line in the first place.

I would have liked to go below 55 seconds but the goal was met. I don’t want to be unambitious. In the final I will give everything, I am motivated that it will be the last race of the season and I want to enjoy the race. I want to feel no pressure and those competitions are my best”, said Sara Gallego in the mixed zone of the Munich Olympic Stadium.

The best time (53.73) of all the finalists was recorded by the main favorite for gold, the Dutch Femke Bol, runner-up in the world at the recent World Championships in Eugene (United States).

Final of the women’s 400m hurdles It will be held on Friday, August 19 at 9:45 pm.
