Date:

Fluminense won 5-2 this Saturday Coritiba and took the second position in the classification of Brazilian Championship, although it awaits the match between Palmeiras and Flamengo. The victory, obtained with goals from Caio Paulista, Colombian Jhon Arias, Nathan and William (2), brought Fluminense to 41 points and left Coritiba with 22, closing the gap through Alef Manga and Egídio .

The ‘carioca tricolor’ now has two points over Flamengo, who will visit Palmeiras this Sunday, where they lead alone with 48. The match between Palmeiras and Flamengo, which matches the twentieth three days, are considered key for the tournament.

Should they win, Palmeiras will reach 51 points and be left with 10 more than Fluminense and 11 above Flamengo, although a loss to the leaders this Sunday could set the championship on fire.

This Saturday, the Atlético Mineiro, who until the start of the tournament were favorites to retain the title they won last year, stumbled again and lost to mid-table Goias, now 29 points, 0-1. The defeat leaves Mineiro in seventh place, with 35 points and with a severe crisis in the locker room and deep discomfort among its fans due to the irregularity of the team this season.

In addition to Palmeiras-Flamengo, the following matches will be played this Sunday: Juventude-Botafogo, Bragantino-Ceará, Santos-Sao Paulo, Fortaleza-Corinthians, Atlético Goianiense-Cuiabá and Athletico Paranaense-América Mineiro. The day will be completed on Monday, when Avaí will host Internacional.
