Sara Sorribes bids farewell to the WTA 250 tournament in Cleveland (USA) in Tuesday’s loss to round of 16 against Belarusians Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
Leader of series number 7 of this tournament, Sasnovich defeated the Spaniard by 4-6, 6-3 and 6-3 in a hard and close game of two hours and 35 minutes.
Sorribes, number 46 in the WTA ranking and coming off an odyssey of almost four hours in the round of 32 against Colombian Camila Osorio, gave a new recital of sacrifice and dedication but in the end she could not break the Belarusian, which occupies the 36th place in the world ranking.
In this way, Sorribes will not be able to repeat her good result last year when she reached the semifinals in Cleveland in the inaugural edition of this WTA tournament.
On that occasion, the Spaniard lost to Estonian Anett Kontaveit, who later became the first champion in Cleveland.
