The ‘Bala’ is praised by its followers in Alhama de Murcia, where this Wednesday’s stage starts
The facilities of ElPozo Alimentación on Wednesday saw Alejandro Valverde, one of the greatest cyclists in history, leave his homeland for the last time in an official race. The ‘Bala’, which celebrates its sixteenth Vuelta a España, was received by hundreds of Murcians who, proud of their compatriot, did not stop cheering. Cyclists and Valverde fans could enjoy the various tents set up at the event, where they sampled food and drinks to shorten the long-awaited wait.
After the presentation of the different teams participating in this Vuelta a España 2022, it was the turn of the Movistar Team to take the podium, led by ‘Bala’. With emotional applause and from the hands of the authorities present, he received a ham from ElPozo as a tribute after his extensive sports career and his retirement from the cycling world. A race that started in ElPozo Alimentación, Alhama de Murcia, and will end in Cabo de Gata.
