Vertonghen left Benfica and went home

The Belgian international Jan Vertonghen35 years old and former player of benficawill play the next two seasons at Anderlechtthe Brussels group announced this Friday.

Vertonghenthe player with the most international caps for the Red Devils, with 139 appearances since his debut in 2007, passed his medical at the capital club on Thursday and his transfer was made official on Friday.

“He will bring a great dose of experience to a young group and will be an invaluable asset for the defense,” the club said.

Former Ajax and Tottenham

This will be the first time Vertonghen dispute in the Belgian championship, after playing in Ajax (2006-2012, loaned in 2007 to RKC Waalwijk), in Tottenham (2012-2020) and in benfica (2020-2022).
