Uruguayan soccer player Nicolás Schiappacasse, who has been in preventive detention since he was arrested in January with a gun, was sentenced on Thursday to serve a six -month house arrest sentence, to which other measures will be added to later.

The facts

Schiappacasse was arrested Jan. 26 in a police investigation conducted on one of the major national routes where a 9-millimeter gun was seized from him.

That day the soccer player was traveling in a private vehicle to the Maldonado department (province), where he was going to attend a match between Peñarol and Nacional in which he could not participate due to injury.
