The route starts in Algezares and extends to the popular top of the Murcian cycling
More than 300 cyclists will take part this Sunday in the XXXVI edition of the Escalada a la Cresta del Gallo, one of the longest-running events in Murcian sport.
This sporting event in the municipality was presented this Wednesday by the Councilor for Culture, Tourism and Sports, Pedro García Rex, together with the President of the Murcian Cycling Federation, Miguel Fernández, and the Mayor of Algezares, Juan José Garre.
The Mayor of Sport emphasized the importance of an event “that brings together participants from different parts of the regional and national geography. Many of them will come to spend the weekend in Murcia, with the result that this will benefit the hospitality sector of our municipality,” said García Rex.
According to municipal sources, the climb to the Cresta del Gallo begins at 9:00 AM, starting at Calle Rosaleda de Algezares and ending at Alto de la Cresta del Gallo. It will be just over 9 kilometers to ascend to an “already mythical” pinnacle of Murcian cycling, which has starred several times in the Vuelta Ciclista a España.
The start is spread according to the different categories from e-bike to master 30-40-50-60, ladies, cadet, junior and elite/sub23.
