Nice and Cologne tie after serious trouble

The Conference League had a black start due to the serious riots that took place at the Allianz-Riviera an hour before the Nice-Cologne match started, on the first day of the group stage. As a result of clashes between fans of Colonia and Nice, 28 people were injured, one of them seriously. The start of the meeting was delayed: from 6:45 pm to 7:40 pm Then, the match ended 1-1.

Nice, however, improved in the second half and ultimately managed to avoid defeat at the start of the Conference League. In the 60th minute, after a good free kick from 30 meters, Gaëtan Laborde connected a shot with his left foot and Hübers, who was on the wall, touched the ball with his hand. The referee, Luis Godinho, gave a penalty.

Andy Delort converted the maximum penalty in the 62nd minute and established 1-1 which eventually became decisive. The night had a bitter taste for Nice, but Kasper Schmeichel’s new team started with a point.
