Manuel Pellegrini, coach of Real Betis, was pessimistic about the severity of Juami’s injury after the 0-2 win against HJK Helsinki: “It will be a big injury, I think, after the first impressions. Víctor Ruiz looks like a minor ankle sprain, but we have to wait for the tests to be done on both of them when we get back to Seville.”
Juanmi was taken off a stretcher three minutes into the game after an opposing defender slipped and fell on him, possibly slightly damaging his left ankle. He left the field on a stretcher with obvious signs of illness and was transferred to a hospital in Helsinki to undergo initial tests.
Regarding the game, Pellegrini said “it is very important to start with a win as a guest and today I think we played a very complete game both in defense and attack, after the first few minutes where it was difficult for us to -adjusted to the pitch and the circumstances of the game, like Juanmi’s injury. Their goalkeeper made two very important saves and we achieved a better result”.
