Maurizio Mariani, 40 years old, he has yet to direct a game for either Real Madrid or Leipzig. So, it will debut at the Bernabéu in a season where it will also debut in the Champions League. The Italian has refereed matches in the Europa League and Conference League. He also refereed national team matches and even refereed a match in the Arab Cup last year, specifically, he refereed a Mauritania-Yemen match that ended 2-0.
His only game in the Champions League was this season and it was in the qualifying round for the group stage. The match was Maccabi Haifa-Apollon Limassol which ended 4-0.
