“Following Alex Albon’s diagnosis of appendicitis on the morning of Saturday, September 10, he was admitted to the San Gerardo hospital for treatment. He underwent successful laparoscopic surgery on Saturday at lunchtime.

After surgery, Alex experienced an unexpected postoperative anesthetic complication that led to respiratory failure, a known but rare complication. He was intubated and transferred to intensive care for support.

He made good progress overnight and was taken off mechanical ventilation yesterday morning. He has now been transferred to a general ward and is expected to go home tomorrow. There were no other complications.

Alex’s full focus is on recovery and preparation ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix later this month.
