Ramos: “For many moments I thought I didn’t win”

Date:

the Spanish tennis player Albert Ramos counted after defeating the Serbian Laslo Djere 2-6, 7-6 (5) and 7-5, in almost three hours, that in many moments of the match he thought he was not winning, but during his career he has felt this feeling several times and some ended up winning, like this wednesday.

“Tennis is complicated. You go through many different emotions. There are times when it seems like you will win and others when you find it impossible. It’s a bit strange, but after so many years the best thing is to try not to think too much and concentrate on what needs to be done at all times”, he stated.

The Catalan tennis player said: “I don’t feel well, but I fought a lot and I tried to give my best. It’s impossible not to fight with all the people who support me, even if the conditions are not the best for me, the track was very slow and so were the balls. In the beginning it was a bit difficult for me, but I picked up the pace”.

“In these conditions, we know that every point is a battle, the physical issue can be important, we have seen it in the training sessions that it is very hot, the ball is very slow, every point is a marathon” , he added.

Regarding his rival’s physical discomfort in the middle of the third set, Ramos said that it did not affect him and pointed out: “I was surprised how well he recovered. It seems to me that cramps, cramps normally cannot be treated, that’s what the rule says, he was treated and he recovered, we tried to put pressure on him”.

Finally, he referred to his companion Carlos Alcarazwhere he said: “I don’t see him much, he came yesterday, he was very tired. This morning I haven’t seen him training, but they said he is good and always having a good player like him is very good for any team.”
