A fourth man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the mysterious attack on soccer player Kheira Hamaraoui that took place in November.
Some local media, citing sources from the investigation, pointed out that the detainee is an 18-year-old from the town of Massy (Paris region) who is being questioned at the offices of the Versailles Judicial Police.
Three other men were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the case and remain in police custody, which will initially last 48 hours.
These are the three youths in their twenties who have police records, who were also transferred to the Versalles police station, where the investigation is underway.
The midfielder was attacked on the night of November 4 when he was in a car driven by his PSG teammate Aminata Diallo. The vehicle was immobilized by the assailants who pulled Hamraoui out of it and beat him on his legs with an iron.
The cause of the attack, unknown
Investigators initially suspected Diallo, who was arrested during questioning, but was released without charge.
It was then hypothesized that this was revenge for Hamraoui’s relationship with former Barcelona player Éric Abidal, whom he met in Barcelona when they were both at Barça.
In any case, Justice did not launch any proceedings against Abidal or his wife, who filed for divorce after the adultery was made public.
Investigators are trying to clarify what may have motivated the attack on Hamraoui, who after that episode saw his football career completely disrupted.
Part of PSG
The footballer is currently separated against his will from PSG discipline, although he has a valid contract for this season and next.
As a result, the player last week asked a judicial officer to legally certify that the club does not allow him access to the Bougival training center (outside Paris) to practice his profession and fulfill his contract.
