Lionel Messi heads the squad list for the Argentine national team for friendly matches against Honduras and Jamaica this September in the United States.
Left out of the final 28-player squad are Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso, Fiorentina defender Lucas Martínez Quarta, Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Exequiel Palacios and Fiorentina attacking midfielder Nicolás González, who is on the preliminary list and is usually called up by coach Lionel Scaloni.
The absences of Exequiel González and Palacios are due to the fact that they are not in the best physical condition.
On the other hand, the presence of defenders Nahuen Pérez (Udinese) and Facundo Medina (Lens) and midfielders Enzo Fernández (Benfica) and Thiago Almada (Atlanta United) is surprising, with little or no experience in the Albiceleste .
Two tests in the US before the final list
Argentina will play Honduras on September 23 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and then Jamaica at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on September 27.
Thursday’s payroll is the last prepared by Scaloni before the call-ups for the 2022 Qatar World Cup are determined.
Argentina will debut in Group C on November 22 against Saudi Arabia, face Mexico on the 26th and close its participation in the group stage on the 30th against Poland.
