It took 24 hours to react to Swiss Roger Federer’s retirement announcement. This Friday, on his Instagram account, the former world number 1 and winner of 21 Grand Slams (one more than the Swiss and one less than Rafa Nadal), the Serbian Novak Djokovic published a message of thanks to Federer:
“Roger, it’s hard to be here today and say what we’ve shared in this sport together. It’s been a decade of incredible moments and battles to look back on. Your career has led to excellence and lead the circuit with integrity. It’s been an honor to know you on and off the track and I look forward to the coming years, I know this is a new chapter and great things await you, for Mirka, for to the kids and everyone around you and that’s what it’s like. And your fans still have a lot to see, follow and enjoy. From our family to yours, we wish you happiness, health and prosperity in the future . I look forward to celebrating all your successes and seeing you in London.”
