Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini was imposed on Andre Goeransson and Dragos Nicolae Madaras through 7-6(1) and 6-2 to seal victory against Sweden of Italy, who left the group stage classified as first and with absolute success.
The Italian duo took one hour and 26 minutes to tie the tie in a meaningless encounter since Matteo Berrettini won the first singles. Italy qualified first at the Bologna venue and will play against the United States in the quarterfinals in Malaga.
Sweden, who substituted Madaras for Elias Ymer for the doubles with nothing at stake, was left in the final stage where Croatia will enter.
Mikael Ymer defeated Jannik Sinner 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 and tied the match that Berretini had not balanced at the beginning when he beat Elias Ymer 6-4 doubles. But it was not enough for the Scandinavian team.
