Winning at Suzuka and setting the fastest lap was enough for Max

Date:

Max Verstappen, although it was difficult for him, he did not take advantage of the first attempt to get the world title at Marina Bay in Singapore. A race that has already put the Dutchman up on Saturday in qualifying and on Sunday in the GP. The second crown, therefore, has to wait a week.

His vast advantage in the World Cup allowed him to reach the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka with serious options to become a two-time Formula 1 world champion. Currently, Max leads the Monegasque by 104 points charles leclerc and at 106 to the Mexican winner in Singapore Sergio Perez. And they will drop 112 points at the end of the Japanese Grand Prix. It’s not bad for Max to sing alirón in front of the Japanese fans and, especially, in front of the Honda bosses.

It was enough for the driver from the Netherlands to win the race and set the fastest lap to become the champion, but if he doesn’t get that extra point, he will have to wait for Charles Leclerc to finish third or worse.

If he does not achieve victory in Suzuka, he will have to wait for the results of Pérez and Leclerc, which should be worse, since he will have to lead his main rivals for the World Cup by six and eight points respectively, so his lowest position should be sixth place.

Results that would have given Verstappen the title have occurred seven times out of a possible seventeen this season: at Imola, Miami, Canada, France, Hungary, Belgium and the Netherlands.
