Ceferin: “The Super League? I could write a book”

Date:

Alexander Ceferin is back to attacking the driving clubs of super league in an interview given to the Slovenian media’Only RTV‘ where he gives details about the convincing days of April 2021 where the announcement of its creation turned the world of football upside down. “They were really stormy days. When the time comes, I will be able to talk more about it or write a book that will be very interesting. In those days, I did not sleep, eat or drink for 48 hours,” recalled president of the UEFA.

“I received calls of support, threats… Now I don’t have any relationship with Agnelli and before I don’t have much contact with Florentino either. In the Champions League Final we talked properly, he sat next to me and we . has not played the Super League”, continues Ceferin, who does not believe that at this point, and without the English clubs, the alternative project of the Super League will continue.

“We have three club presidents,” he said, referring Joan Laporta (Barcelona), Florentino Perez (real Madrid) Andrea Agnell (Juventus), “who keep claiming it for their egos, but then they are the first to sign up for the Champions League for fear of being kicked out,” the president said.

“The English will certainly not be united and I don’t see any serious competition without any of those teams, which are certainly the most important in European football,” Ceferin said of the shock of Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpoolclubs withdrawing from the Super League due to protests by their fans.
