Izan Guevara will compete in Moto2 next season

Izan Guevara jumps into Moto2. The GASGAS Aspar Team rider will make his debut in 2023 in the intermediate category in his third season as a World Cup rider and has a balance to date of 6 victories and a total of 11 podiums, 10 of which have been achieved in the 17 races of 2022 held to date.

“I am very happy to announce that in 2023 I will compete in Moto2. I think this is the perfect time to jump into the category and do it with the GASGAS Aspar Team. We have grown together since the Junior World Championship and now we are fighting for the Moto3 title. I feel at home in the GASGAS Aspar Team and I know that together we will continue to achieve great results in the future” stated the rider.

Guevara came to the Aspar Team in 2020 as the champion of the European Talent Cup. In his first season in the Junior World Championship he won the title with 5 wins and 8 podiums in 11 races, some of them memorable, like in Aragón, where his superiority allowed him to win the 3 races held starting from the twenty-second position of the Grill.

In 2021, it’s time to jump into the Moto3 World Championship with the GASGAS Aspar Team and already in the first race in Qatar the quality of the young Spanish driver began to be seen, finishing 7th at a circuit he did not know. Gradually the results came and, after being 4th in Great Britain and in Aragon, at the Circuit of the Americas -another track he did not know-he achieved his first victory.

Guevara admitted at the beginning of 2022 that his goal would be the title, although thinking race by race and looking for the regularity that will allow him to reach the end of the season with options. Victories in Jerez, Catalunya, Germany, Aragón and Japan, along with 5 more podium finishes, allowed him to reach the final stage of the season in an enviable position, with a 49-point lead in the general classification.
