Luis Medina Cantalejo, President of the Technical Commission of Referees, maintained contact with more than a hundred as he has with all the territorial ones, with about 150 members attached to the Murcian Committee of Referees.

After being received by the President of the Football Federation of the Region of Murcia, José Miguel Monje, who gave him a gift, he ended his visit to Murcia with a speech he made to the members of the different delegations of the Murcia Region .

Medina Cantalejo stated during his visit that “we are making a road map that I mapped out when I started leading arbitration in Spain and what I have done is bring arbitration closer to the territorial one. I wanted the nineteen territories in less than visiting for a year and now I only have three left.» The former referee assured that “what we do is approach the boys and girls from each area, explain to them what we are looking for, what we want and most importantly listen to them.”

He also went to the Murcia region as a nursery for great referees such as Franco Martínez, Gómez López, the assistant Pedro Medina who accompanied him at the World Cup in Germany in the four matches he directed and now José María Sánchez Martínez from Lorca, « who constantly growing,” he said. He also mentioned the assistants of the First Division, such as Cabañero Martínez, Martínez Nicolás and López Mir and the referee Rafa Sánchez López, who plays in the Second Division, and the referees of the First Women’s Football Federation at the international Martínez Madrona, alongside Elia María Martínez and the recently promoted María Planes.

Sánchez Martínez, international since 2017, was VAR present at the Women’s World Cup held in France in June 2019 and also VAR at the recent Women’s European Championship in England. For his part, Martínez Madrona also represents the Murcian arbitration at international level. He made his debut in the Women’s First Division in 2017, the year in which he was also named internationally. Martínez Madrona joined the refereeing world in 2001 and was promoted to the Third Division in 2016, a category he still owns to this day. In 2017, she made her debut as a referee in the First Division in Albacete in the match between At. Madrid and Albacete.

The Football Federation of the Region of Murcia has announced a new course for aspiring referees, both in Murcia and Cartagena. The course will be held in the classrooms of the Football Federation of the Region of Murcia from next Tuesday, October 11 and until this date, the registration period remains for all interested parties.
