Jovicevic: “It’s a cruel situation; It’s not just football, we’re talking about life”

Date:

Shakhtar Donetsk coach Igor Jovicevic, sent a message of support and strength to Ukraine after the new Russian bombings in cities such as kyiv, Lviv and Zaporizhia that took place this Monday, which he described as another “brutal situation” caused by the war and which took place a day before his match against Real Madrid ( 9:00 pm CEST , – 2 GMT) and that, for this, will be held in Warsaw (Poland).

“The fatigue from taking the bus to Warsaw is high. You hardly have a day off. The preparation is not like the others, but we have to be strong and show the world that we are young, but ambitious. A cruel situation , it’s not just football, it’s life. We need help to end this war,” he said in a press conference.

“Sometimes you don’t need to say, with a pat or a look we are united. We are all in this together. The players have their family there, I saw them depressed at breakfast, but we have to motivate ourselves. We have to find the strength to overcome this, because when the game starts, unfortunately, no one will remember the people. That’s football, he added.

A Jovicevic made sure of that they will give everything to beat Real Madrid and thus try to alleviate as much as possible the pain of the Ukrainians.

“All our support to the Ukrainians. The families of my players are there. It is our responsibility to be strong tomorrow, also for them”, he commented.

In addition, he did not want to enter into the assessment of whether this is his next commitment to the league, which is played in several cities in Ukraine while their home games in the ‘Champions’ have to be played in Warsawwill be suspended after the final bombings.

“Now Ukrainians don’t think about football. We think about Madrid, to play very well for all Ukrainians”, he commented.

A match against Real Madrid where the plan to follow is clear: “I hope they are not at their best level. We will be bolder in attack and we want to have fewer errors in the midfield, because they are very dangerous in transition, with spaces. We want to be ourselves, how we usually play and how we showed what we can do in the second half of the Bernabéu”.
