Teams cannot practice the day before at the stadium

Date:

One of the great concerns of FIFA facing the next Qatar World Cup is the care of the grass of the stadiums where matches are held. To the point that none of the 32 teams could practice at the stadium the day before their matches. Both in the group stage and later in the knockout rounds.

These training sessions or sessions – this is reflected in the regulations of the World Cup itself – have to be held in their usual facilities. That is, where the various teams will remain concentrated and have their headquarters.

They have the right to hold a familiarization session in the stadiums where they are playing a match for the first time on the eve of the match. A session or visit where players and coaching staff will be allowed to step onto the field of play to inspect the turf and always have sports shoes on. They will also be able to move around the stadium to familiarize themselves with the area. FIFA itself will be in charge of sending the schedules of these familiarization sessions to the national teams.

Wondering exactly what the regulations include regarding warm-up before matches. If weather and pitch permit, teams will have the right to warm up on the pitch before the match. In principle, the warm-up lasts 30 minutes and starts with 50 minutes left before the start of the match and ends with 20 minutes left. But, in case the playing field is not good. conditions and if warm-up sessions can affect its status, it can be limited, canceled or even reduced in some areas of the playing field. The same when there is a previous ceremony linked to the World Cup, such as the opening match or the final.

Careful grass care in stadiums

Concern about the state of the playing field has reached the point that since last September 20, none of the stadiums can be used for any kind of act, show, or non-football event. And since October 20, a month before the start of the tournament, it should not be used for any kind of event. Only FIFA can grant exceptions to these deadlines. In addition, the training facilities will have the same type of grass as the stadium of the host city in which they are located with the aim of preventing these official training sessions in the stadium itself.
