Steeman, with options for the title, crashed ten laps from the end on a fast section of the Portuguese track, with the great misfortune of the pilot Jose Luis Perez he couldn’t avoid it and passed him.
Steeman was transferred to Hlighthouse hospital by helicopter, after being revived on two occasions at the same circuit, and the race was stopped after the necessary red flag was shown. Steeman was admitted with polytrauma and head injuries and remained in critical condition, fighting for his life, until this Tuesday, at the last minute, his death was reported. Rest in peace.
