This Friday met in Madrid the Association of Professional Leagues (ALPE) and where is the new Women’s Professional League. In this way it joins the organism that is already forming The League, the ACB, Asobal and the National Futsal League.
In the meeting this Friday, the main topic of conversation was about the new Sports Law that is in the parliamentary proceedings at the Culture and Sports Commission of the Congress of Deputies.
The meeting was attended by Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, Antonio Martín, president of ACB, Servando Revuelta, president of Asobal, Javier Lozano, president of LNFS, and Beatriz Álvarez, as president of the Women’s Professional League.
Within the professional leagues there is concern about the latest changes in the Draft Sports Law that could affect the economic viability of the Leagues.
Last Tuesday at the Professional Laliga Assembly the decision was adopted by Delegate Commission of LaLiga to meet with the PP president, Alberto Lopez Feijoo and the Minister of Culture and Sports Miquel Icetato convey their discomfort and sense of betrayal after the PP’s recent withdrawal of amendments to the Sports Law agreed with the PSOE
The changes considered by the employers were withdrawn due to pressure from the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, because of the previous text, and initially supported by the same political forces, they came to correct a word which greatly affects, among others, LaLiga itself.
This affects, as we have already explained in this newspaper, in the sense that it facilitates the proliferation of external projects, such as the European Super League project, which can do enormous damage to Spanish competition.
The amendment they removed today allows a club to be allowed, in the case of Super League play, to process a license to compete in the Spanish league. Something that in the previous words approved by the PP and PSOE, was not possible.
The five presidents meeting today agreed on their concern regarding the legal uncertainty that the content of the new Law may bring to the professional leagues, they want to reaffirm that they are the main source of employability and generation of additional resources. -economics of Spanish sport in its various disciplines
