Fulham responded on Saturday by scoring twice against Bournemouth (2-2) and salvaged a draw in the newly-promoted clash allowing them to end a run of two previous defeats and stay right in the middle of the Premier ranking. Meanwhile, the ‘clarets’, ninth with more points, have added six consecutive days without defeat.
Bournemouth struck first at Craven Cottage, in the first minute of play, through Dominic Solanke, who finished brilliantly behind a brilliant wall by Philip Billing. But a header from Issa Diop, off a corner taken by Andreas Pereira, leveled the score in the 21st minute.
The situation repeated itself later. Ecuadorian Jefferson Lerma, on the brink of half-time, made it 1-2 when he beat Bernd Leno with a right-footed shot after an assist from Solanke, who took advantage of a defensive error.
Bournemouth managed to extend their lead with a double shot after a corner from Lerma and Adam Smith found a response from Leno.
Fulham responded again
However, Fulham responded again with a 2-2 lead thanks to a penalty converted by Aleksandar Mitrovic in the 52nd minute which former Barcelona player Neto was unable to stop. The Serbian, who was knocked out by Lerma in the area, reappeared after an ankle injury and scored his seventh Premier goal.
Fulham harassed a Bournemouth side that could barely get out of their plan but couldn’t find a way to complete the comeback as a tiring Mitrovic failed to convert the two chances he had.
