The Volta a Catalunya has announced its route in an edition with many new things

The 102nd edition of the The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, which will be held from March 20 to 26, 2023, already has a route defined with the official status of all the towns of departure and arrival of the race.. Starting in Sant Feliu de Guíxols and ending in Barcelona, ​​Volta will tour Catalonia with many new features compared to the previous edition.

In fact, in relation to the last edition, the 101, only the start and end towns, and the arrival in La Molina are kept in the design of the route.

Sant Feliu de Guíxols will repeat for the second year in a row a good start to the race, while Barcelona will end a difficult and varied edition. So, the Volta 102 will have many new things, such as leaving for the first time from Olost or arriving for the first time in Molins de Rei.

The return of the Volta decades later in Martorell (1994, last time) and Sabadell (2003, last time), as well as the return to Llívia (2018); and Mataró and Vallter (2021) After a year of absence, they will be a good reason to encourage the public to experience the stages of the race “in situ”, which will once again bring together the best teams and cyclists in the world on the Catalan roads.

The 2023 Volta will have three hilltop finishes for the first time in many years, as regulars in La Molina and Vallter – where there is always a show – is accompanied by a grand finale in Terres de l’Ebre. Leaving Tortosa and arriving at Lo Port, climbers will have a height challenge on this Volta.

Details of the mileage and characteristics of each of the stages will be announced at the official presentation that will take place at the beginning of the year 2023.
