Two thousand runners return to the street with the Artillery Cross

Date:

The emblematic 6 and 14 kilometer test will celebrate its nineteen editions on November 20, after two years of absence

One of the most consolidated popular races on the regional calendar, the Artillery Cross returns through the front door after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The test will be 19 editions and will celebrate with the long-awaited tests of 6 and 14 kilometers, on November 20, in addition to the sections for the little ones. All details were explained yesterday during the presentation, in the Military Government.

A press conference in this building, at the beginning of Paseo de la Muralla del Mar, started the countdown to the race. It is organized by the Artillery Cross Sports Association in conjunction with the 73rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment and the City Council.

The two-year hiatus enforced by the pandemic has only fueled Cartagena’s interest in participating in the Artillery Cross. With just under a month to go until kick-off, there are already about 1,600 confirmed numbers. More than two thousand runners are expected to take to the streets of the historic center.

The last stragglers have until November 11 to register on the website ‘crossdelaartilleria.com’. The number costs 7, 11 and 13 euros, depending on the distance and whether the payment takes place in the rest of October; the fee increases to 8, 13 and 15 euros if you wait until the last 11 days of November. One euro from each number goes to the Spanish Cancer Association.

One hundred and fourteen trophies await the winners of the tests, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. In addition, all participants are eligible for a raffle of culinary products, such as wedges of cheese or beer. Starting and ending on Paseo de Alfonso XII, minors up to the age of 14 have two routes, to the Arqua or the Plaza de la Isla, if they choose the 400 meters or the 1.6 kilometers.

The two queen events of 6 and 14 kilometers enter the historic center from the Puertas de San José (former Plaza Bastarreche), the Algameca road, the Christmas lighthouse and return through the Navantia gate and again along the axis of Carmen- Puertas de Murcia- Aire and Cañón streets until reaching the finish. It all starts on Sunday, November 20 at 10:30 AM.
