Sauber Motorsport announced on Wednesday an agreement with Audi AG for the Sauber Group to be a strategic partner of Audi’s Formula 1 program. Audi AG also plans to take a stake in the Sauber Group.
After announcing its entry into Formula One as a power unit manufacturer, alongside the introduction of an innovative new engine formula in 2026, Audi has chosen Sauber Motorsport as its works team from the 2026 season. Meaning, Audi will then replace Alfa Romeoa team representing Sauber at the moment.
Finn Rausingchairman of the board of directors of Sauber Holding, is happy about the agreement with Audi. “Audi is the best strategic partner for the Sauber Group. We clearly share values and a vision, and we look forward to achieving our common goals in a strong and successful partnership.”
Frederic Vasseur, CEO and principal of the Sauber Motorsport team, also expressed his satisfaction with the agreement. “The partnership between Audi AG and Sauber Motorsport is an important step for our team as we continue towards the front of the grid.” “Being an official Audi works team is not only an honor and a great responsibility: it is the best option for the future. and we are very confident that we can help Audi achieve the goals they have set for their journey in Formula One.”
