The pilot George Prado inaugurated this Thursday, with an exhibition, the motocross circuit from which it is named Lugo and affirmed that his dream was that these facilities, located near where he trained as an athlete, would become the scene of a World Cup event.

“We have to dream of a World Championship event here. It can be something very big,” said the two-time MX2 world champion in 2018 and 2019, marveling at the anticipation his presence on the circuit has generated.

“Super happy” to name the new motocross circuit in Lugo, his “city, two kilometers from the circuit” where he grew up, Prado appreciates the level of facilities, the landscape and the “future” it has.

The Galician rider jumped for dozens of fans who came to the circuit in an event open to the public and completely free.

“The first impressions are very good, very fun, quite long, with a very good terrain because it is quite soft, pleasant, and some jumps that are bigger and more fun,” he told Efe after the exhibition.

The mayor of Lugo, who accompanied the athlete at the inauguration of the facilities, which has been operating since July, said that it is “a reference circuit, with the capacity to host national and international competitions, in a sporting modality , motocross, on the rise thanks to a large extent, to the successes of Jorge Prado in recent years”.

The young rider, who is on vacation, indicated that his team has made “small progress to improve the bike and be more competitive next season.”

The circuit, located on municipal land, is 2,000 meters long and 10 meters wide, as well as a paddock area and another for quad cross, enduro and test practice.
