The world relay in guangzhou which will be held on May 13 and 14, 2023, is postponed until April or May 2025 (at a date to be determined) due to pandemic situation in chinaWorld Athletics (WA) announced this Monday.
The decision was made by the WA Council in agreement with the Guangzhou Organizing Committee and the Chinese Athletic Association, the statement said.
The postponement of the competition will affect the classification system for the Budapest 2023 World Cups, but it has been changed to include the top 8 teams from the Oregon 2022 World Cups and another eight according to the world ranking.
The venue for the 2024 World Relay Championship will be chosen by the World Athletics Council at its meeting on November 30 in Rome.
