Ancelotti: “I see Rodrygo more than 9 than as a winger”

The Italian coach spoke of the Brazilian Benzema’s withdrawal and praised Gerard Piqué after his dismissal

Carlo Ancelotti appeared at a press conference prior to the game against Rayo Vallecano at the Vallecas stadium. The transalpine coach dealt with several current white issues and even gave him time to praise Gerard Pique.

When in doubt whether or not Benzema will play against Rayo, Ancelotti was succinct: “He’s not going to play”, although he later clarified that “he’s not playing because he can’t. Because of his loss, we have the quality of players like Vinicius, Rodrigo , Can use Valverde… But we will need him after the World Cup.”

Asked about this question, and in what position Carlo Ancelotti sees Rodrygo can contribute more to the team, the Italian got wet: “He has a great projection, more as a striker or behind number 9 than as a winger. I see more of that.” Faced with Mariano’s exclusion, the Brazilian is postulated as the ideal replacement for Karim Benzema when he leaves.

Speaking about Hazard, who has barely competed this season, he made it clear that the Belgian has a lot of competition and that “there are people who deserve to play more.” The Belgian will undoubtedly have a hard time getting regular minutes.

He also had time to praise Gerard Pique, who said goodbye to the club of his life on Saturday evening. “He was one of the strongest central defenders I’ve ever seen,” and I understood that he had decided to retire and that he had made a strong decision for his life.
