Manchester United, Barca’s rival in the Europa League

PSV Eindhoven meets Sevilla in round of 32 of the second continental competition

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United will rival Barcelona in the round of 32 of the Europa League, whose draw will be played on February 16 (first leg at Camp Nou) and on the 23rd of the same month (return at Old Trafford). PSV Eindhoven will be the opponent of Sevilla in the ‘play off’, with the first game on the Sánchez Pizjuán and the second in the Netherlands.

Betis and Real Sociedad, immediately classified for the round of 16 as group leaders, will play that round on March 9 and 16. The final of the second continental competition will take place on May 31 at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

The last time Barcelona faced United in Europe was in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in the 2018-2019 season, when the Barça team qualified for the semi-finals. “It is a spectacular draw for the neutral fan between two very big clubs. In this draw you prefer softer stuff, but it’s also fun, but this cross also gives importance to this competition. It’s a difficult draw, but we have to face it with optimism. United is a club with a lot of history and a stadium that makes a lot of noise,” said Jordi Cruyff, Barça sports director.

The former footballer, who played for Barcelona and United, neither wanted to put the favorite sign. “There are still a few months to go and he won’t be able to break free at any time. They will think the same of us,” he acknowledged.

Round of 16 draw:

– BARCELONA-Manchester United.

– Juventus-Nantes.

-Sporting CP Midtjlland.

– Shakhtar-Rennes.

– Ajax-Berlin Union.

– Bayer Leverkusen-Monaco.

– SEVILLE-PSV Eindhoven.

– Salzburg-Rome.
