The Massi-Tactic UCI Women’s Team, from Torroella de Montgrí (Girona), will add a subsidiary to the structure from next season. The Massi-Tactic Academy will take over from the so far second amateur team that has had Baix Ter Cycling Club (Catema.cat) and it is designed so that young runners can jump to the first team in a period “between six months and two years. We want the reserve team to be the best national team category in Spain, just behind the UCI teams”.
The subsidiary of Massi-Tactic will consist of catalan cyclists, above all, and also Navarre and of Balearic Islands, and will run in Catalan, Spanish and, occasionally, international competitions. The Massi-Tactic Academy This will be included in the structure of the first team: “The directors of both teams will work together and the two teams will do the preseason and prepare together so that the subsidiary can learn and internalize the preparation of a UCI team,” added Güell. The aim is “to rise to Catalan commitments in the medium term and to have, in the future, a first team made up of 90% of cyclists from Catalonia”.
The CC Baix Ter was founded in 1990 and created its first women’s team 12 years ago to give projection to girls from the entity that left the training stage. In 2019 he created andl Massi-Tactic. Throughout the four seasons, the team has had different riders from Catalonia and those who came from the academy, such as Mireia Benito, Martina Moreno, Marina Isan, Mireia and Ariadna Trias and Patri Ortega, among others. “In recent years we have had almost all the best Catalan runners, but there is a gap, many are still missing to reach a professional team and for this reason we want to strengthen our subsidiary”, highlights the president of entities. Last year the team had Catalan, Spanish and cyclists from Germany, Poland, Sweden, Portugal, Ecuador, Mexico, Slovenia and the Netherlands and, in the coming weeks, the squad for the 2023 season will be finalized.
