The American Brandon Nakashima, 49th in the world ranking, won the NextGen ATP Finals, the Under-21 Masters held in Milan. He beat Czech Jiri Lehecka (74th) in the final 4-3 (7/5), 4-3 (8/6), 4-2 in the final.
Nakashima, 21, this happens to Carlos Alcaraz on the list of champions of this competition that brings together, like the ATP Masters, the eight best players of the season aged 21 or under.
Nakashima won his first ATP title this year, in San Diego in September.
Alcaraz, who became world number 1 at the age of 19 after his US Open title in September, would have participated this year in the ATP Finals starting this Sunday in Turin and not in NextGen. But, wounded in the stomach, he was dropped.
the danish Holger Rune (10th out of 19) he preferred to act as a replacement at the ATP Finals in Turin, as he entered the top-10 after becoming the Masters 1000 ATP champion in Paris-Bercy.
