Arnaus: “In the mess I kept up and I finished well”

Date:

adri arnausa resident of Dubai, made a good last putt from seven meters to take the jump Jon Rahm and Jorge Campillo on this second day of World Cup at Jumeirah Estatesand share third place with alex norenthree shots from the lead.

“I’m very, very happy the first two days,” Arnaus said. “At some points I got into trouble, but I always kept my composure and managed to finish in a good way, so I’m very happy,” said Catalan.

“I always enjoy this week. It’s a great tournament for me. I stay at home and have friends and family, so it’s a very nice week,” he added.

Jon Rahm, for his part, emphasized that “it was a very good round of golf. I can’t help but think about what could have happened. Obviously, I played very well the last nine holes. I made good putts on 11, 13 and 14 that didn’t go in. A little bit of a mistake on 16 with the wedge in my hands, if that drive on 18 is a yard to the left, I’m looking to go to the green. Those are the things that, if it happens, it could be an incredible round of golf”, explained the Basque.

“But it was good, that’s all I can say. I did a lot of good things and the trend is positive. I just hope it continues to improve over the weekend,” he added. Rahm is playing for the first time since winning the Acciona Spanish Open last month, after tying for second at the BMW PGA Championship prior to that tournament.

And the one from Barrika concluded: “I’m quite tired of hearing ‘you’re having a bad year’. Maybe the level I’ve established is that they’re used to seeing me win more often, or at least have chance to win more often. It hasn’t been a bad year, two wins and a lot of top tens. The only thing I think would be better for me is to at least have a chance at the majors. I’ll be there at the US Open, but the other three I don’t have. Going there on Sunday, even having a chance, will make everything go better,” he added.

And Jorge Campillo shook off an initial bogey to add eight birdies, five of them before the return, in a 65 that was only surpassed by Ashun Wu as the lowest round of the day.

“It was a rough start,” Campillo said. “After that I played solid and made a good putt, so it was a good putting day. It’s a shame I missed the last one on 18 for eagle, but it was a good putting day overall .” declared one from Norba. “I had three birdies in a row and I got my round, so I think the momentum is with me. I know the odds are not in my favor and people will think I have no chance to win, and even myself sometimes. But you never know,” he concluded.
