Medvedev: “You can’t compare me to Djokovic, Nadal or Federer”

Date:

the russian Daniel Medvedev assured this Friday, after the loss he won (6-3, 6-7(5) and 7-6(2)) against Novak Djokovica battle of more than three hours marked by the physical condition of the player from Belgrade, which is “incomparable” to the so-called ‘Big Three’, consisting of the Serbian, the Spanish Rafael Nadal and the swiss Roger Federer.

“Novak is in his own league, that’s for sure, with Rafa and Roger. Then there’s the rest. I’m sure I can’t catch up with him. I’m not close to Novak. Maybe when we play, yes, but in general. I can’t be compared with him or with any of the ‘Big Three'”, he declared in a press conference.

Djokovic and Medvedev met in a meaningless match, as the Serb was classified and the Russian was eliminated.

“Before the game I didn’t have much motivation, so it wasn’t easy. But during the game I saw that he (Djokovic) was going 100 percent, so I said: ‘Alright, let’s play, let’s have fun,’ “he explained.

The 2020 master and 2021 finalist bid farewell to the Masters Cup with three losses, dropping his serve when he got it to win the match. As for whether he had an explanation for the last piece of information, he was blunt. “I explain it to you very easily: I sip, so… That’s what happened,” he said between laughs.

“It’s a disaster. The only good thing is that this match is not worth it for me to qualify, otherwise I will have two games where I lost serve for the match,” he added.

The Muscovite, however, despite his poor performance in the tournament that brings together the eight best rackets on the circuit, is confident that he will return to his level.

“I’m sure, yes. In general, after the Australian Open I didn’t see any good results, even though I reached some finals and won a tournament. I didn’t play badly. I was in Turin in the top eight, but I expect more from myself.”, he said.

“In Vienna and Astana, I played very well. I played very well today, let’s face it. I’m sure I can do something in the future. Just keep working. I’ll be sad for a day or two, then I’ll enjoy my free day and I will start preparing myself for the next season”, he sentence.
