The Colombian cyclist Nairo Quintana got off his bike this Wednesday to parade on a catwalk in Bogotá where He presented his sportswear line and debuted as an entrepreneur in the coffee industry.

“I spent my childhood between the land, the plow and farm animals. Coffee is Colombia in the world and during my career I have dedicated myself to showing the best of my country. That’s why I decided to be part of 9.30 Café de Origen and make visible the work of farmers in Colombia.Quintana told reporters at the presentation.

Quintana is present at the 9.30 Concept Store, a space in the Colombian capital that combines coffee, cycling and fashion, with his clothing brand “Tienda Nairo”.

The athlete, who won a title in the Giro d’Italia, one in the Tour of Spain and two second places in the Tour de France, He affirmed that he decided to join the entrepreneurs of the 9.30 Concept Store “because I think they have berraquera (enthusiasm), they are disciplined and have values ​​with which I identify”.

Before taking over as a model for his sportswear line, Quintana, without a team after leaving Arkea Samsic, declared himself “proud” to fulfill his dream of becoming an entrepreneur and recalled his humble origins, where his family taught him. “don’t stop putting your chest to the breeze”.

For this reason, he said when explaining the reason that led him to invest as an entrepreneur in the country: “Although many colleagues who already have a name and public recognition let their family live abroad to give them a better future, I always believe in Colombia and its youth.“.

According to the organizers of the event, the 9.30 Concept Store arose from 9.30 Café de Origen, where Marcela Giraldo, now the company’s commercial director, wanted to understand the dynamics of coffee in Colombia, from its cultivation to in commercialization, and where the project Its goal is to work with the value chain with a focus on local products, sustainability and fair trade.

“Today the company is vertically integrated and goes from the plant to the cup of coffee. In addition, we went from having shops and restaurants to something more innovative like the 9.30 Concept Store where we unite the magic of specialty coffee with the inspiring creativity of national fashion and artl”, explained the company’s executive director, Wilber Jiménez.
