Vinicius: “My World Cup debut was very good”

Date:

Vinicius Junior made his World Cup debut at the age of 22 and he did so by helping Brazil start the World Cup in Qatar with a 2-0 win over rocky Serbia.

Vinicius was involved in both goals and in the second he provided the assist for Richarlison to score a stratospheric goal with the average Chilean.

“I think my World Cup debut was very good and I’m very happy. The truth is I didn’t expect it to be so good,” said the Real Madrid player, although he kept his feet on the ground. “It’s time to keep working, we have the first final in seven,” he said after the game to the microphones of Gol Mundial.

On Richarlison’s brace and the way they celebrated the goals, Vinicius said: “We always talk in the locker room to celebrate with so much joy and I’m happy for Richarlison. In the first half he handled the ball very little and he is always ready to help us.”

“I’m better than ever”

Vinicius saw his dream of debuting in a World Cup come true and, moreover, as a starter. “I thought about all the work to get to this moment. I’m more prepared than ever for this World Cup,” he said. “We’re ready to do great things.”

He was also asked about Neymar’s injury, to which he replied: “He suffered a blow, but hopefully nothing and we still have him with us to help, he is our most important player, the one who has all the responsibilities.”
